Where is Sugar Moon located?
Sugar Moon Cabin is located in the quaint mountain town of Bethlehem, New Hampshire. Coming from the south on Interstate 93, take exit 37 after Franconia Notch. From the north on Interstate 93, take exit 40. A precise address will be provided prior to your stay.
The closest major airport is Manchester, New Hampshire (MHT) (1.5 hours) or Boston Logan Airport (2.5 hours.)
An AWD/4WD vehicle is required in winter months for safe access along our private mountain road. Snow is only plowed above 3”.

How many guests can Sugar Moon Cabin accommodate and what are the bedrooms like?
Sugar Moon’s max rental capacity is 8 guests in 4 bedrooms. We are not able to accommodate more than 8 guests.
Bedroom 1 - Primary: King bed with ensuite spa-inspired private bath with oversized shower with double heads, soaking tub, and double vanity. Walk out to balcony with mountain views.
Bedroom 2 - King bed, windows to mountain views, large shared ensuite bathroom with shower and double vanity.
Bedroom 3 - Queen bed with adjacent full bath with shower.
Bedroom 4 - Bunk room with Queen/Twin XL bunks and shared bath.
May I bring visitors beyond the group staying at Sugar Moon Cabin?
Only guests on the reservation may visit and/or stay at Sugar Moon Cabin. Our town has strict rental ordinances and exceeding this number may result in a fine payable to the guest.
May I have a party/gathering/soirée/retreat at Sugar Moon Cabin?
Only listed guests on the reservation may visit Sugar Moon Cabin. We are not able to accommodate parties, neither indoors or outdoors. Our town has strict rental ordinances regarding vacation rental capacity and our neighborhood is wary of excessive vehicles or noise. In addition, it would not be safe as the outdoor area is on a sloped property with limited flat area for groups to gather.

What is the neighborhood like?
Sugar Moon cabin is located on a quiet private mountain road (bring your AWD vehicle!) with a mix of 10-20 homes of various kinds, from seasonal cabins to year-round estates to off-grid camps. All home sites are at least 5 acres each. We love our neighbors and being a part of this special mountainside location.
How rustic is Sugar Moon Cabin?
While Sugar Moon cabin is a true cedar log cabin, it was built in 2024 to the highest standards of any modern traditional home, including:
All modern utilities.
Advanced foam insulation package.
Modern climate control with radiant heat and air conditioning.
Large gas fireplace with remote.
Modern kitchen with stainless steel appliances, quartz countertops, deep sink, full electric oven with stovetop, and coffee bar.
Even still, Sugar Moon is first and foremost an authentic cedar log cabin, and with its wooden walls and oversized windows, may attract occasional insects and ladybugs. Also, our wooded mountainside property is a haven for wildlife including deer, foxes, birds, raccoons, and yes, the occasional bears. For many of us, this is part of the appeal.
Is Sugar Moon appropriate for young children?
As our property is situated on a steep mountain slope with retainer walls, as well as high interior stairways, Sugar Moon may not be suitable for guests under 5 years old.
Are pets welcome at Sugar Moon Cabin?
We are unable to accommodate guest pets at Sugar Moon Cabin. We are happy to recommend nearby pet-friendly vacation properties similar to ours, as well as local alternatives for pet care services.
Service dogs: We welcome service dogs and understand they are not pets. We have guidelines for service dogs under ADA regulations.
Per New Hampshire law, it is illegal to misrepresent a pet as a service animal, or to impersonate someone with a disability to receive service animal accommodations. Violations will be reported and penalty fees apply.
How private is Sugar Moon Cabin?
Located a half mile down a private mountain road accessible to only residents and guests, Sugar Moon sits on a secluded 5 acres. There is only one other home in proximity located across the private road, and no neighbors visible from the other 3 sides of the home, including the view side.
What safety and security features do you have?

All smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors are brand new and up to date. There are multiple fire extinguishers and a first aid kit.
What about climate control?
Sugar Moon has a state-of-the-art high-efficiency HVAC system including radiant heat in all floors, as well as a ducted air conditioning system to keep you cool on those steamy summer months. Our automated system maintains a temperature range between 68 and 72, depending on the time of year.
What coffee amenities do you provide?

What time is check-in and checkout? Can I request early check-in and/or late checkout?
Check in is at 3:00 pm EST and check out is at 11:00 am EST. To provide our team ample time to prepare for your stay and the subsequent stay following yours, we are unable to offer early check in or late checkout.
Does Sugar Moon Cabin have accessibility features?
Sugar Moon’s main floor is single level and offers all essential amenities (kitchen, bathroom, bedroom) with 35” doorways to the primary bedroom and bathroom, including access to a standard soaking tub and “walk-in” shower with a 27” glass door and shower bench. The narrowest section of the kitchen is 31.5” wide. Access to the porch is via extra large slider doors with 40” wide openings.
The home’s main entrance does entail 2-3 steps. The property consists of a steep slope with multiple tiers.
For noise-sensitive guests, white noise machines are provided in each bedroom.

If a portion of all rental fees is paid forward to the Sugar Moon Foundation, exactly how much is that?
A minimum of 5% of your stay supports the local community through our affiliated Sugar Moon Foundation. At the time of this publication, we are new to market and strive to increase contributions over time. Note: Sugar Moon Cabin is not a non-profit organization.
Who designed Sugar Moon Cabin?
We did! We put much time and effort into designing Sugar Moon Cabin ourselves from napkin sketch dreams 15 years ago, to eventual blueprints, to researching systems and interior design. We were fortunate to work with a long list of local tradespeople who brought our plans to life, and there was plenty of our own elbow grease too! Please contact us for local referrals.
Do you have a place for me to store my skis/outdoor gear
Yes, we have a large mudroom entry with benches, equipment racks, boot trays, and hooks.
Are any areas of Sugar Moon Cabin not open to guests?
There are two areas not open to guests: a loft storage area with locked ladder, and locked owner’s closet/cabinet.
